The data is in for another year, and Texas is making great strides in becoming one of the safest places to live. On both state and city levels, Texans are seeing less crime and experiencing lower rates of incarceration than in previous years. According to the 2016 FBI crime reports (the most recent data available), forty-two of the top fifty safest cities had less than one violent crime per 1,000 people.
