Fluor Awarded Contract For Chemical Facility Near Freeport

Houston Business Journal-  Fluor Corp. (NYSE: FLR), which has a major presence in the Houston area, has been awarded a contract for mechanical construction of a facility in Freeport. MEGlobal, a wholly owned subsidiary of Equate Petrochemical Co., is building the monoethylene glycol manufacturing facility at Dow's Oyster Creek site.  Fluor's work will include installing equipment, steel and piping for the MEG process unit, according to a March 26 press release. At peak construction for Fluor's scope, the company expects the project will employ about 1,000 craft professionals. Fluor has about 2,000 employees at its campus in Sugar Land, according to HBJ's list of the largest employers in Fort Bend County.
